AWS Customer Spotlight: Residential Mortgage Provider
ConRes partners with a US residential mortgage servicer with locations all over the country. As a multi-location financial company that prides itself on providing the highest level of customer service, the customer’s reputation, in many ways, is built on the security and performance of their cloud environment.
The Challenges
To meet the customer and user demands of a fast-paced marketplace, the customer put heavy investments into building out their multi-cloud environment. However, the advantages of leveraging the cloud soon ushered in newfound complexity around monitoring and managing multiple cloud instances. Visibility soon became a nightmare for the customer’s overburdened IT team, which meant the environment was at risk of falling out of best practice and dangerous cybersecurity gaps and vulnerabilities were going unchecked.
Challenges at a Glance
- Complexity around managing multi-cloud environment
- Lack of multi-cloud visibility
- Inability to implement security and compliance best practices across multiple accounts
- Difficulty controlling cloud spend
How We Helped
ConRes had been managing the customer’s on-prem infrastructure for decades. So, when the customer raised their cloud security concerns to us, our cloud team went straight into “triage” mode.
First, we assessed their entire multi-cloud environment and identified all security vulnerabilities and potential compliance violations. We then prioritized all issues for the customer’s team according to their criticality and level of effort.
After the assessment, we designed a procedural remediation plan for the customer that involved a strategically driven joint alignment between our team and theirs. To ease the process, we broke down the plan to include how each task would impact the customer’s internal resources, what resources would be impacted and how much effort would be required to execute the specific remediation task. By working together to remediate the issues, the customer’s team learned, hands-on, how to proactively prevent similar future issues.
Beyond designing the remediation plan, our team also uncovered opportunities for the customer to reduce their cloud spend and optimize resource usage. As their trusted advisor, we continuously monitor their multi-cloud environments to give them the necessary visibility to be a more scalable and secure organization.
