Cisco ACI Lab and Demo Center
Clients Accelerate Innovation & Application Deployment Via Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure
Continental Resources (ConRes) has launched an ACI-based solutions laboratory and demonstration center. The Cisco ACI Lab and Demo Center is the first of it’s kind on the east coast. Based on Cisco’s Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), the new facility enables clients to move from ACI evaluation to deployment.
According to ConRes COO Kevin McCann, “Our clients are very excited by productivity gains from ACI based solutions for their datacenter and IT operations, including networks, servers, storage, and security applications. We’re offering them access to the lab to work with the technical and engineering teams, developing the ACI framework and integration with other solutions. This isn’t marketing hype; they’ll work with the development team on an application that addresses an actual challenge for their company. So they leave here with an application policy that they developed that they can take back and show value to their IT Operation teams.
“Our lab enables IT professionals to develop, test and optimize their data center solutions for cloud, mobility, virtualization, and big data applications under Cisco’s ACI architecture. Their feedback to us is that they are seeing a significant impact on TCO (total cost of ownership) with faster application deployment,” McCann concluded.
Solutions Lab Topology
The ConRes Cisco ACI lab solution topology consists of Nexus 9396 switches as the Datacenter / DCI core. Downstream from the network core sits a pair (2) of Cisco Nexus 5672 Switches as the “standalone” traditional datacenter network. In parallel to the standalone datacenter networks, is the ACI Stack, which is made up of two (2) x ACI 9336 Spine Switches, and two (2) ACI 9396 Leaf Switches, managed through a three (3) node APIC Cluster. A Cisco UCS B-Series Chassis is connected to both environments, and can support a mix of VMware ESX, Red Hat Linux, or Microsoft Hyper-V, backed by a NetApp Flexpod.
About Cisco ACI
Cisco ACI is a comprehensive SDN architecture. This policy-based automation solution supports a business-relevant application policy language, greater scalability through a distributed enforcement system, and greater network visibility. These benefits are achieved through the integration of physical and virtual environments under one policy model for networks, servers, storage, services, and security. Through Cisco ACI, customers are reducing application deployment times from weeks to minutes. It also dramatically improves IT alignment with business objectives and policy requirements.
