  2. Implement Lifecycle Management software – Major issues create whirl-winds of problems that can set any company’s routine and budget off kilter. Preparing for system crashes and other catastrophes can offer a company the needed foresight to plan for the unexpected. Lifecycle Management software, like IBM’s InfoSphere, can make it easy to track and predict hardware and software failure, thus reducing downtime and those bad, expensive surprises.
  3. Cushion budgets (cost containment) for data growth – As a company grows, its data load also increases exponentially. In other words, what you spent last year on increasing storage may not be enough to get you by this year. Planning ahead for future increases is necessary to avoid unexpected budgetary hits.

As erratic as the IT world can be sometimes, there are ways to improve predictability. The more insight a company has on their current IT systems and future market trends, the easier it is to prepare for both growth and possible complications.
