The Cisco Cloud Connected Solution Component #6: Cisco SRST for HCS

Cisco offers the Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) for Hosted Collaboration Services (HCS) as a landmark Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). In the cloud, these services provide virtual appliances that offer collaboration services with the added bonus of no cost of maintaining and buying physical servers. They also extinguish the support costs and overhead for the deployment of an enterprise voice and video collaboration.

As customers transfer to these services, certain roadblocks arise, including how to confirm the continuity of services when connectivity to the cloud is lost. Voice communications are such an essential part of a communication’s solution that businesses cannot continue without them. With this level of importance of a specific service, the idea of resiliency in the face of a cloud outage becomes very critical.

Cisco provides you with Cisco SRST for HCS to ensure a smooth switchover to fallback services. In short, phones in the branch office fallback transparently during a WAN outage and provide business continuity through resilient voice services during WAN link failure.

Cisco offers this service with features that include:

• Provides Telephony Survivability during WAN outages.
• Uses Cisco router to auto register and provide local call processing with no manual intervention required.
• Offers a connection between HCS and HCS Connector that is safe and secure.
• When WAN is available, IP phones auto-revert back to the HCS infrastructure.
